Download YouTube Videos With VLC Media Player
VLC is one of the most robust media players out there, and can handle a lot of formats that software such as QuickTime and Windows Media Player can not. If you don't already have it, VLC is completely free and available for download HERE
So here is how it is done:
Windows version:
Go to Media >> Open Network Stream or you can also press Ctrl+N to open required window.
Now a window will open as screenshot. Enter here the URL of youtube video that you want to download then click on play.
Go to Tools->Codec Information, Now a window will be open as screenshot and copy the link from location.
Open a browser and paste above copied link in address bar then video will start playing and now right click on video then a context menu will appear as screenshot. Click here on Save video as
Now Save as popup window will be open as screenshot. Put the file name in with “.mp4″ extension (For Example: video.mp4) and click on save then video downloading will be started.
Now your favorite YouTube video will start to download at desired location. You can watch downloaded YouTube video after download completes.
Mac Version:
Open VLC
Go to File>Streaming/Exporting Wizard
Then paste the url of the video under select a stream tab.
Hit next and check Transcode video and Transcode audio checkboxes.
Now you can select the format you wish and then hit next.
Now select the path of the video and hit next.
Wait for video to be downloaded and you are done.
